Valentina Guerrero is an adorable 10 month old baby girl who has recently become the first ever Down Syndrome baby to land a campaign with a major designer. Valentina has been selected as the new face of Dolores Cortés' ("DC") 2013 kid campaign. DC will donate 10% of the proceeds from the line to the Down Syndrome Association of Miami.
When asked what she thought of the campaign, Valentina's mother, Cecilia Elizalde stated,
“I was excited mainly because the fact that they are placing Valentina on the catalogue sends a very clear message of inclusion; all children deserve the same opportunities, regardless of their physical, economic, social, racial or medical condition.”

This campaign is a shining example of the strides being made by not only the fashion industry, but our society as a whole. It is my hope that this will not be the sole campaign of this kind. We are all beautiful, and we all deserve to be treated as equals.
